Massive blow for Scunthorpe as Clarke suffers another 'hamstring injury'

Scunthorpe United and Jordan Clarke have been dealt the cruelest of blows heading into tonight's play off semi final second leg with Rotherham United.

It was revealed the defender has suffered a recurrence of the hamstring injury which kept him out for the majority of the season.

The news comes from BBC Humberside journalist Mike White, who had picked up a whisper of the bad news, and also read between the lines following an Instagram story post from Clarke himself.

Marnick Vermijl is the obvious replacement, and although was a bit rusty against Bradford, has shown before during the loan spell that he is more than capable of filling Clarke's boots when needed.

Not the news we wanted, especially with Matt Gilks' injury, but we are Scunthorpe United - we pick ourselves up and dust ourselves down.

Up the Iron.
