Crofts and Townsend will miss Posh test; Mantom to see a specialist

Iron manager Graham Alexander has confirmed that Andrew Crofts and Conor Townsend will miss Saturday's League One encounter with Peterborough United.

Crofts made his first appearance for United in the 2-0 loss to Rotherham last weekend, and despite the defeat, left the Iron faithful with good first impressions.

Townsend, who had been missing for a few games before the loss, also came into the team on Satruday, but missed Tuesday night's 1-1 draw with Fleetwood Town.

"They're not training yet," Alexander told the club's offical iFollow acccount.

"I don't think Croftsy will be too long, and Conor will only be around another week or so at least.

"We will have to see how they both progress, as things can change daily with their kind of injuries."

Sam Mantom is another player who has been in and around the first team set up so far this season, but who will be missing after picking up an injury.

Alexander confirmed that the former-Walsall midfielder had been sent to see a specialist, as they try to put a timescale on his return.

"He went for a scan at the end of last year, and that went well. They've given him another scan today to have a look at something else, but the original fears are okay.

"It's not got worse from where it was last time, but there is something that is niggling at him, so he's gone for a different kind of scan today, and hopefully we can get a positive result from that."

Long-term absentees Luke Williams and Jonathan Margetts are still quite a way from returning to the first team fold, Alexander also confirmed.

There is positive news for Charlie Goode, however, who is thought to be close to returning to full fitness.
