Pair exit Iron on loan

Scunthorpe United have announced that the graduate YT pair of Matt Godden & Ashley Palmer have exited Glanford Park for 1-month loan spells respectively.

Godden, who has made 7 sub appearances for Scunny in his career for us thus far - has joined Blue Square North side Gainsborough Trinity on loan for an initial month spell.

Originally born in Canterbury, the Centre-forward who has the No.20 shirt for us this season - has also previously spent time on loan at both Brigg Town and Ilkeston Town whilst registered for the Iron.

Having suffered a nasty hip injury earlier on in the season - and being below the likes of Grant, Parkin & co in the pecking order: Godden has thus found first team football extremely hard to come by for us sadly.

Defender Ash Palmer, originally from Pontefract - will also exit for a 1 month loan spell: joining Harrogate Town respectively.

The 6 ft 1 centre-half, who joined the Iron following his release by the Barnsley youth system: has also previously spent time on loan with Blue Square Premier high-flyers Southport.

Ashley has made 1 league appearance so far for us, (during the defeat away to Notts County), and is expected to go straight into Harrogate's squad for their game at the weekend.

Both players' loan spells are believed to be "Youth loans" - very similar to the arrangements that Scunthorpe United had Oliver Norwood, Sam Johnstone and Shane Duffy on respectively.

Therefore - if both players' initial 1 month loan spell is successful: expect it to be extended, and probably fair regularly between now and the end of the season.

So here's to hoping that both Ash & Matt have an extremely successful spell away out on loan.

They thus join striker Aron Wint in exiting Scunthorpe United on loan - with the YT product currently spending time with FC Halifax Town of the Blue Square North.
