Iron take Thomas on trial - with Ajose set to exit

Following much speculation, the Iron have confirmed that they are currently taking 24 year old French forward Joel Thomas on trial over the Christmas period.

The 24 year old is formerly of Hamilton Academicals and Colchester United, although there remains some controversy as to whether or not he is still signed to Greek club Ionikos FC. If Joel is, it is anticipated that he is not wanted by the Southern European club, and will thus be available on a free should the Iron desire, and be able to agree personal terms.

This movement from Alan Knill is held to be no coincidence after the announcement that, somewhat unsurprisingly, Nicky Ajose's unfortunately unsuccessful loan spell from Darren *Wifebeater* Ferguson's Championship side Peterborough, will not be extended.

As such, the former Bury and Manchester United frontman - will held back to his Cambridgeshire parent club when his current loan spell with the Iron expires on January 3rd. His last available game for the Claret & Blue army will be the away trip to Hartlepool on January 2nd.

Thomas meanwhile, appears to have gone down a treat with Iron boss Knill - who was prepared to talk openly about the striker, his availability - and his eagerness to sign him, with the press only today.

Sources close to the club reveal that they're set to take another look at Thomas, and hopefully play him in a reserve game or two: before deciding whether or not to take a chance on the ex-Colchester 6ft 2 striker. And with goals badly lacking from Scunny currently: if he's the man to solve the crisis - Joel will go down a treat in North Lincolnshire!

Especially considering that his fellow Frenchman, Damien Mozika, is somewhat of a clut figure being the only non-Brit: and having a stonking haircut to boot!

More details will be available soon, but so far - let's not get too far ahead of ourselves: we all know that if a lad has failed with Colchester, he's unlikely to be the next Lionel Messi, but christ: if he can score the goals that win us games, who cares.

So here's to Joel Thomas and Scunthorpe United...

Up the Iron!
